The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who is on an official visit to Estonia, said regarding the re-registration of cars and new license plates implementation in the north of Kosovo, that Belgrade is destructive in relation to the possibility of any compromise, Albanian newspaper Reporteri reported.

At a joint press conference with Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Kurti accused Belgrade of ordering Kosovan Serbs to leave the Kosovo's institutions.

"My Deputy Prime Minister is regularly and intensively in communication to resolve this issue. There are 9,000 cars with illegal Serbian license plates, which is less than 10 percent of the cars owned by Serbs in Kosovo. An extreme minority within the Serbian majority rejects these license plates. We have a different approach, we started with a warning for three weeks, and then announced the fines. However, Belgrade ordered the Kosovan Serbs to leave Kosovo institutions. We are doing our best to preserve the legality and constitutionality of our country, as well as security and peace," Kurti explained.

He added that he was an optimist and repeated that Belgrade's approach was destructive.

"In the coming days, we will see how successful we will be in these new negotiations. We need a final agreement for the normalization of relations with Serbia, with final recognition in the center," Kurti said.
