Lajcak announced meetings with Vucic and Kurti: Challenges in the Western Balkans have not disappeared
The Special Envoy of the European Union for the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, Miroslav Lajcak, announced that he would be in Alpbach, Bled, and Belgrade in the coming days, in order to meet with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic.
Lajcak wrote on Facebook that, although the pace in Brussels had slowed down over the summer, the challenges in the Western Balkans had not disappeared.
"One particular area that remains high on my agenda is the situation in the north of Kosovo," Lajcak said.
That is why he invited Deputy Assistant Secretary Gabriel Escobar to Brussels for detailed discussions, in order to prepare for the coming months and further strengthen efforts.
"Together with our teams, we discussed in detail the questions of the dialogue, the assessment of the current situation, the events of the last months, and the expectations for the next period. We made sure that we aligned the necessary steps and priorities. Before the traditional return next week to Brussels, I plan to travel to Alpbach, Bled, and Belgrade, where I will meet with Prime Minister Kurti and President Vucic, as well as a number of partners, friends, and experts on the Western Balkans and political events," Lajcak said.
