Lajcak: To remove barricades by political agreement, not by bulldozers
The special envoy of the European Union for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, Miroslav Lajcak, said that the best way to remove the barricades in the north of Kosovo was through political agreements, not bulldozers, Reporteri reports.
After the meeting with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Lajcak emphasized that he would also talk with the commander of KFOR and representatives of EULEX in Kosovo.
"I am a diplomat, for me the best way to remove the barricades is through political agreements, not bulldozers. I had a long discussion with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti. I will not reveal the details to the public, because I am in the middle of a mission and I will continue my visit tomorrow in Belgrade. I will meet tonight with Commanders of KFOR and EULEX, to see their assessment of the situation on the ground, and then we will try to find possible solutions, because this is not good. We cannot afford to wait for something bad to happen. Tensions do not help anyone and I don't think anyone normal is satisfied with this situation in the north," Lajcak said.
The meeting with Kurti was also attended by the special envoy of the United States of America for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, who stated after the meeting that he made it clear to Kurti that he expected the start of work on the implementation of the agreement on the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities.
