Lucic in Gracanica: Peak of pressure from Kurti's administration; we hope they will admit the mistake

Vladimir Lucic, the General Director of "Telekom Serbia," stated today in Gracanica that the company's subsidiary firm, "MTS D.O.O.," operating in Kosovo, was currently in a battle for survival due to the efforts of the administration of Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti to shut it down.

Lucic, who today delivered smart boards to schools in central Kosovo, also expressed hope that after filing an appeal, Pristina would recognize the mistake.

As he reminded, "MTS D.O.O." is the largest Serbian company in Kosovo, employing around 250 people and serving 30,000 customers.

"At a crucial moment for our company, we are now running this campaign because we are currently in a fight for the survival of our company. After a year of various pressures from Kurti's administration, the peak of that pressure has come now, with an attempt by that administration to shut down our company," Lucic explained.

He mentioned that "Telekom Serbia" in Pristina had filed an appeal against the decision to prohibit the company from operating in Kosovo, including the removal of the "MTS D.O.O." company from the enterprise registry, and he said that he expected a positive outcome.

"The decision itself is an absurd piece of paper that does not comply with the laws they have enacted; it violates Pristina's own laws, not to mention that it nullifies the Brussels Agreement. So, we are confident in our victory, and as they informed us on Friday, they will issue a decision in 15 days. The decision should be to admit the mistake and for our company to continue operating," Lucic stated.

He noted that they would also initiate the process of obtaining a third license in Kosovo.

"As you know, we have permission for landline, internet, and television throughout the territory, but we are limited in mobile services because they have kept us at the number of repeaters we had before. This is sometimes felt by people in Serbian enclaves, especially when there is a security problem and people talk a lot. I think we will take diplomatic steps to obtain that third license to build mobile telephony effectively and become real competitors. Whether someone likes it or not, Telekom Serbia is the largest operator in the Western Balkans," Lucic said.
