The victory of the Serb List in the local elections confirms the unity of the Serbian people and their determination to remain in Kosovo, as well as their trust in their state of Serbia, said Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut, noting that a challenging period lies ahead, given that Albin Kurti is already using political pressure and institutional obstruction to undermine the Serb List.

“However, the determination of the Serbian people and the unwavering resolve of the Serb List leadership are a strong bulwark against all of Kurti’s malicious intentions,” Macut emphasized in an interview with Politika.

He added that it is therefore crucial for the Serbian people to remain united and steadfast in defending their rights.

“We expect representatives of the international community in Kosovo and Metohija, especially KFOR, to act responsibly and prevent such moves from endangering the survival of the Serbian people. Belgrade, as always, will stand by its people—both in difficult and in better times—because the strength of a state lies in never forgetting those who suffer most, and believe the most,” Macut said.

Regarding the Berlin Process Summit held a few days ago in London, where he represented Serbia, Macut said that participation in the event was extremely important for Serbia, as it was an opportunity to clearly present its positions and priorities in regional cooperation.

He stated that Serbia is today a factor of stability and a reliable partner in the region, which, he noted, was recognized by its European counterparts.

He added that the Berlin Process remains an important framework for strengthening economic ties, improving infrastructure connectivity, and creating better conditions for young people to stay in their home countries.

“In London, we discussed concrete projects in the fields of energy, green transition, and digital connectivity, as well as the further integration of the region’s countries into the single European market. The key message we sent is that Serbia remains committed to the European path, as well as to preserving good-neighborly relations and peace in the Western Balkans. In times of global challenges, a stable region and open dialogue are precisely the best message Europe can send—and one that we conveyed through our presence in London,” Macut said.

When asked about Serbia’s progress in EU integration, he stressed that EU membership is Serbia’s strategic commitment.

“The Serbian government continues to implement reform measures, especially after the positive assessments of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen regarding the voter registry and the work of the REM Council. The level of alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy stands at 61 percent, as confirmed by von der Leyen, which clearly indicates the direction we are heading in. The messages from European officials are encouraging and confirm that our efforts are being recognized. Serbia’s European future is not just a political goal but a guarantee of further development, progress, and a better life for citizens,” Macut said.

Speaking about the increasing pressure on the Republic of Srpska, Macut recalled that Serbia is a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement and takes that obligation both legally and morally.

“Our goal is not to endanger anyone but to defend the right of the Serbian people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to live in peace and dignity. Belgrade will always pursue a responsible policy—through dialogue, preservation of peace, and continuous investment in regional stability,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

He underlined that this stability is a precondition for all Western Balkan countries to jointly respond to global challenges.

“I recently visited Athens and Skopje, and I will continue these visits. We want to maintain good relations with all our neighbors, but also make it clear to everyone that peace is our highest interest,” Macut concluded.
