Members of the Serb List verified their mandates: A technical move to prevent Kurti and the quasi-Serbs from taking away our people's rights
Today, nine members of the Serb List technically verified their mandates in the Parliament of Kosovo. As they pointed out, they did so to prevent Albin Kurti's "dangerous and anti-Serb plan to, with the help of self-loyal quasi-Serbs, initiate the process of changing the Constitution in the Parliament with the aim of abolishing the guaranteed rights of our people in Kosovo and Metohija".
As the reasons why they took this step, they indicated the danger of the abolition of Serbian municipalities, the abolition of Serbian as an official language, the confiscation of monastery and church land, the formation of the Kosovo Army.
They pointed out that they would not actively participate in the work of the assembly and that their procedure is of a purely technical nature, and that the decision to leave the institutions by the Serbs in the north remains in force.
"The only goal of our move today is to prevent mandates intended for Serbs from falling into the hands of Kurti and his collaborators, who do not wish anything good for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija," Milan Joksimovic from the Serbian List explained at a press conference in Gracanica.
As he added, with 10 guaranteed seats, the Serb List was a barrier to all attempts by Pristina to change the constitution and pass anti-Serb laws.
"In order to prevent evil and all possible speculations, we emphasize that today's verification of the mandate is a purely political act that does not mean that we will actively participate in the work of the assembly, nor will this strategic decision change the attitude of Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija to leave all Kosovo institutions. Serbs in the north remain loyal to the decision to leave the institutions until Pristina withdraws the unilateral and illegal decision on the license plates and forms the CSM, as was also decided and approved by the conclusions of the Serbs from November 5 in Zvecan," Joksimovic said.
He added that the Serb List had obtained reliable information in the previous days that Kurti was planning to appoint loyal Serbs to the positions of legitimately elected representatives of the Serbian people, i.e. the Serb List, and together with them, he would start the procedures for changing the Constitution.
"If Kurti, together with the Serbs loyal to him, were to abolish those articles of the constitution that define the method of voting by the double majority key, a Pandora’s box would be opened for the Serbs in the Republic of Kosovo and Kurti would be able to take away most of the guaranteed rights of the Serbs - the right to use the Serbian language as an official one, to celebrate our Christmas and Easter holidays, but also for Pristina to start changing the law of vital importance, which would enable the abolition of our Serbian municipalities, especially south of the Ibar, confiscation of land from churches and monasteries, ban on displaying our flag, stop building houses for returnees, the abolition of guaranteed jobs for minority communities, the formation of the Kosovo Army, etc. Kurti could do all that, because in that case nothing would prevent him..." Joksimovic added.
He said that the Serb List will never allow such a thing.
"Until the last one is among us, because the only mission of the Serb List is to protect the interests of the Serbian people, the peace and security of our citizens," Joksimovic pointed out.
