Meta: Decision to return land to the monastery crucial for Kosovo's membership in the CoE

The implementation of the Cadastre Agency's decision to return 24 hectares of land to the Visoki Decani Monastery is seen as a crucial step for Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, political analyst Alen Meta assessed for Kosovo Online, adding that it would also reduce pressure regarding the dinar.

Meta reminds that since Kosovo's application, there has been no progress towards admission to the Council of Europe, and that the recent events are closely related to the visit of the US special envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar.

"It is very important to know that the step in implementing the decision to allocate 24 hectares of land to the Decani monastery is crucial. This followed the visit of US Envoy Gabriel Escobar to Kosovo. As a result, these things are certainly interconnected, especially in politics, where cards are often held 'up one's sleeve' for use in certain situations, as is the case here in moments when reports can be more complicated, considering the increased pressure on Kosovo regarding issues such as the dinar and the Association," Meta believes.

He emphasizes that returning land to the Decani Monastery is a decisive step for Kosovo to be accepted into the Council of Europe.

"Also, at the same time, I believe that the decision regarding the Decani Monastery's land is a decision that also reduces pressure on the dinar issue," Meta assessed.
