Retired Lieutenant General Milomir Miladinovic stated that Slovakia’s return to the KFOR contingent will significantly contribute to greater security for the Serbian community, as well as to the stabilization of relations in Kosovo.

"I believe their participation will significantly contribute to stabilizing relations in Kosovo, especially from the standpoint of protecting the Serbian population. If a friendly country is participating, it is implied and natural that it will be friendly toward the people and, as such, help to at least improve the current relations that exist in Kosovo between the illegitimate authorities of the so-called state of Kosovo and the Serbian people, in favor of the Serbs," Miladinovic said.

Slovakia recently became the 33rd country to join KFOR and is one of five EU member states that do not recognize Kosovo.

Miladinovic explained that Slovakia is a freedom-loving country that has shown exceptional commitment to global peace.

"Regardless of its size, the participation of such a country in peacekeeping missions, specifically in the KFOR contingent in Kosovo, means a lot, above all to our country, because we have a friendly nation that has publicly declared its position through its leadership. We have support, especially since it is a member of both the EU and NATO," Miladinovic said.

He believes that Slovakia’s involvement in KFOR will contribute to a “more proper and fairer approach” by the mission toward the Serbian community.

"I believe that its participation in KFOR in Kosovo will contribute to a more proper and fairer attitude from those who are 'ensuring' peace in Kosovo, although according to some data, they are not ensuring it but rather encouraging unrest. You know what has happened since 1999 until now, where they didn’t lift a finger, even though they could have," Miladinovic emphasized.
