Milosavljevic on the deportation of Serbs from Kosovo: This goes against all international laws
Attorney Milka Milosavljevic told Kosovo Online that she is shocked by the recent deportations of Serbs from Kosovo who are employed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia, emphasizing that such practices seriously violate international legal norms.
“I am personally shocked. I cannot comprehend that people are simply doing their jobs, as police officers in Serbia, owning property in Kosovo, and then they are deported. This goes against all international laws, charters, and regulations. Please, if I’m working in this profession and I go to Germany, would I be deported just because I’m a lawyer in Kosovo? Is that really the case? Whether that is true, and whether there might be some other issue behind it, I won’t get into, or if they perhaps have some other reason regarding that person, and that’s why they are deporting them,” she said.
Milosavljevic noted that although she does not delve into the details of each individual case, having never dealt with such a matter herself, she believes there is room for legal protection for those affected by this measure.
“I heard there's some kind of period, three to four years, but in any case, that doesn’t mean it is a final decision. Lawyers and defense attorneys had the right to file objections or appeals, so I believe the panels of judges deciding on these cases will recognize and apply international standards, because this is not the way things should work. But again, I don’t engage in individual cases, as I haven’t personally encountered one like this,” she concluded.
