The Ministry of Defence of Serbia announced this evening that the export of weapons and military equipment produced in Serbia is being suspended.

"In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, and Chairman of the National Security Council, Aleksandar Vucic, the export of weapons and military equipment produced in Serbia is being suspended," the Ministry of Defence stated.

It added that from now on, in addition to the approvals of other competent ministries and agencies, the consent of the National Security Council will also be required for the export of weapons and military equipment produced in the country's defence industry factories, in accordance with Article 16, paragraph 4 of the Law on the Export and Import of Weapons and Military Equipment.

Earlier today, President Vucic stated that the export of ammunition from Serbia has been completely halted, and that ammunition is now being directed solely to domestic barracks and stockpiles.
