Ministry of Defense of Serbia: Unauthorized crossing by Kosovo Police, KFOR must take action
The Ministry of Defense of Serbia announced that the Kosovo Police unlawfully crossed the line near the village of Cirkovice in the municipality of Leposavic and called on KFOR to take measures to prevent Pristina from attempting to escalate violence in Kosovo.
"The Ministry of Defense strongly condemns the unauthorized crossing of the administrative line between central Serbia and the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija by a group of heavily armed members of the so-called Kosovo Police near the village of Cirkovice," the statement reads.
It is emphasized that this represents yet another deliberate and planned attempt to provoke an incident and violate agreements by Pristina's institutions, led by Albin Kurti.
The Ministry of Defense demands that KFOR, as the sole legal and legitimate military force in the region of Kosovo, take action in accordance with its mandate and prevent the interim Pristina authorities from attempting to escalate violence in Kosovo.
"Albin Kurti's order for members of the so-called Kosovo Police to cross the administrative line constitutes a dangerous provocation and a threat to peace," the Ministry of Defense of Serbia stated.
It added that units of the Serbian Armed Forces in the Ground Safety Zone are monitoring the situation on the ground and are ready to respond in accordance with the provisions of the Military-Technical Agreement.
