Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Milan Mojsilovic emphasized during talks with KFOR Commander Özkan Ulutaş that Serbia recognizes KFOR as the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo, tasked with ensuring a safe and secure environment and protecting the Serbian population as the most vulnerable segment of the population, while pointing out that unilateral moves by the institutions in Pristina have a negative impact on security in the region.

According to a statement issued by the Serbian Ministry of Defence, the regular meeting, which forms part of broader activities aimed at preserving security in Kosovo and maintaining regional stability, focused on the security situation on the ground and the activities undertaken by the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR.

“Assessing the situation in the province as sensitive and fragile, it was emphasized that the International Security Forces must maintain vigilance and readiness to respond rapidly, and that continuing regular and open communication at all levels is of utmost importance for monitoring developments on the ground and preventing the emergence and escalation of crises,” the statement noted.

General Mojsilovic pointed out that unilateral actions by the institutions in Pristina, including efforts to join military alliances and to transform the Kosovo Security Force into an army, negatively affect regional security.

He stressed that Serbia recognizes KFOR as the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo, responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for all and protecting the Serbian population as the most vulnerable segment of the population.
