Molliqaj: We treat the Serbs in the north similarly to how Milosevic treated us
The Social Democratic Party President Dardan Molliqaj said that the Kosovo Government had to be careful not to slip into fascist positions when dealing with Serbs from the north, Ekonomia online newspaper reported.
Molliqaj said that the northern Kosovo Serbs were treated in the same way that "Milosevic treated the Albanians".
"The problem in the north wasn't to be solved by using force and power". I think the way we recently treated the problem of the north and the Serbs in the north was dangerous and that there were some similarities with the way Milosevic treated us", Molliqaj said.
Molliqaj pointed out that the problem of the north was not legal but political.
"It seems to me that Kurti has miscalculated his measurement of reciprocity. We were against it because the problem in the north was not legal but political. Now they have shown us that Serbia controls the north", he noted.
It could not be said that all Serbs were "instrumentalized", Molliqaj also added.
"There was a tendency, not only by the authorities, that the Serbs were only instrumentalized. We all know that the Serb List wins 98 percent of those votes. We could say that they voted wrongly, but we could not say that they were all instrumentalized", he said.
Molliqaj emphasized that the problems between Kosovo and Serbia could be solved only by a political agreement, not by Kosovo's or Serbia's demonstration of strength.
