Momirovic: Ban on Serbian goods just a segment of the policy of expelling Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija
Nine months have passed since the ban on Serbian goods in Kosovo, and Minister of Internal and External Trade Tomislav Momirovic tells RTS that it is, to put it mildly, a political decision.
"We made a great effort to implement the Open Balkan initiative. We have been in the CEFTA agreement for more than 15 years. The fundamental purpose of the EU is the free movement of people and goods. And Pristina has taken a completely different path. I wrote to all EU trade ministers, all ministers in the region, and the USA. Everyone condemns it. Unfortunately, we see on the ground an attempt by a parallel Albanian government to expel our citizens. This is just one segment of that policy," Momirovic says.
He adds that Serbia's basic goal is to protect the interests "of our citizens, both in Kosovo and Metohija, and in the region."
"I think that with our people in Kosovo and Metohija, we will succeed in winning this battle. Serbian products will return, the economy will return, and our companies will return to that market," Momirovic says, adding that Serbs and Albanians are forced to buy more expensive goods.
