Musmurati: I hope we will celebrate after the Hague verdict, otherwise I do not believe there will be peace anywhere in Kosovo

Pristina Deputy Mayor Besiane Musmurati said that the city had organized a series of activities in support of the former KLA leaders, noting that on September 12 it would support the march organized by “Freedom Has a Name.” She also said that she hopes they will all celebrate together after the verdict is announced, and that otherwise, she does not believe there will be peace either in Pristina or anywhere in Kosovo.

Musmurati said the activities began with the “Hour of Waiting,” and also mentioned a mural in support of the KLA leaders, as well as an exhibition by war photographer Visar Kryeziu.

“Yes, I am very pleased that, as deputy mayor of Pristina and as the Municipality of Pristina, we have organized a series of activities for the freedom of our liberators, which we expect on September 16. We first started with the Hour of Waiting, which began in Pristina and was then continued in all municipalities in Kosovo. We continued with the mural that we unveiled on behalf of the citizens of Pristina, depicting all the leaders being held in The Hague. It was signed by all the directors of the Municipality of Pristina, as well as by citizens,” Musmurati told Ekonomia Online.

Musmurati stressed that the main activity would be the march on September 12, which, she said, the Municipality of Pristina would strongly support.

“But the most important date is September 12, that is, the march organized by ‘Freedom Has a Name,’ which we will strongly support as the City of Pristina and in which everyone will participate. I also call on all citizens of Pristina to take part. The march will be held on Saturday, September 12, at 2 p.m. in Skanderbeg Square, and all preparations for the march are underway. If I am not mistaken, the mayor has accepted the invitation and I believe he will be at the march. We have also invited all councilors from all political parties to participate, because the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army knows no party differences, and there should be none when we are talking about protecting the values of the KLA and our liberators,” Musmurati said.

She said that a large screen would also be installed in Skanderbeg Square, where citizens would be able to watch the announcement of the verdict live.

“I hope that after the hearing we will all celebrate together, and otherwise, I do not believe there will be peace either in Pristina or anywhere in Kosovo. We hope for a fair and appropriate decision in favor of our leaders who are being held there. I believe we will organize this together with the KLA veterans' organization, and it will be open to all citizens and all media outlets, so that we can sit together, watch and listen to the hearing,” she concluded.
