Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said, regarding the situation in Kosovo, that Serbia had shown a pragmatic approach, while Pristina's actions had been guided by "ideology".

In his address to the EU Committee of the Austrian Parliament, Nehammer said that Kosovo was a "tricky topic".

Previously, the deputy of the People's Party of Austria (OVP), whose leader Nehammer, Carmen Jeitler-Cincelli, reported her observations from her recent visit to Kosovo, that all Kosovo parties had indicated that they, considered the EU to be unfair to Kosovo.

"It turned out that Serbia is showing a pragmatic approach, while Kosovo's actions are guided by ideology. Even its protector Albania showed dissatisfaction with the behavior of the Kosovo government," Nehammer said, according to a statement from the Austrian parliament.

The Western Balkans, he stressed, required the full attention of Europe, and the European perspective had to be preserved.

Nehammer underlined that Austria remained an important partner of the region.
