Analyst Risto Nikovski believes that Washington shapes the fate and situation in the Balkans, and tells Kosovo Online that the United States will not allow any destabilization of the region.

Nikovski notes that Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani is partially right when she says that Europe’s security depends on the security of the Balkans.

“Let’s not forget that a world war started here, right in the Balkans. But the context she gives is utterly nonsensical. On the contrary, Serbia is doing everything it can to find a solution for Kosovo, which was illegally separated from Serbia, that must be emphasized. However, there is no understanding from the Kosovo side. Therefore, her rhetoric is entirely misplaced, and Serbia is the least of all the factors that threaten the security of the Balkans,” the analyst from Skopje said.

According to him, Osmani’s statements that Serbia, after Russia, is the biggest threat to the security of the Western Balkans and Europe are part of the official rhetoric of Pristina.

“That is part of their policy, which de facto no longer holds. We know what is happening with the United States, which is suspending certain important programs and projects it has been implementing with Kosovo. But the key point is that new alliances are forming in the Balkans, new agreements for some supposed kind of peace, which, in reality, are creating conditions for conflict. When three countries make an agreement on some form of military cooperation directed against Serbia, that undermines peace in the Balkans at the expense of the long-term interests of all countries. What intrigues me most is Croatia’s role. We know about the misunderstandings, problems, and history between Croatia and Serbia, and making some kind of pact against Serbia is absurd. In this way, peace and security in the Balkans, and in Europe as a whole, are being directed and manipulated,” he emphasized.

When asked whether the region should fear new destabilization, Nikovski replied that Washington will not allow new wars.

“The region is under strict control, primarily by the United States. Washington currently has no interest in any instability in the Balkans, and therefore, all these attempts by Kurti in recent times cannot succeed. Ultimately, it is Washington that shapes the fate of the Balkans, and it will not allow any destabilization. There will be no new wars in the Balkans, that is guaranteed. Because if there were new wars, Russia would enter the region, and if there’s one thing Washington wants, it’s for Russia to stay as far away from the region as possible. So, in every evil there is some good, essentially, there will be no conflicts. However, there will be no wars, but also no real peace. Since the interests differ, as I see it, new pacts are being made that, in no way, lead to anything good,” Nikovski concluded.
