Nebojsa Obrknezev, from the Center for Social Stability, says that the invitation of the Serb List to Washington is encouraging and that it is possible that the US position on the crisis in Kosovo is changing, Kurir reports.

Obrknezev commented on the assessment of the United Nations Special Rapporteur Fabian Salvioli that there was a danger of conflict in Kosovo.

"Recently, we have had arrests of the Serbs, and when one of them is arrested, they release him pending trial. He didn't actually get freedom, that is, he is not a free man. It's that kind of visual thing that can pull the wool over someone's eyes. We should insist on the conversation with the Security Council of the United Nations because I believe that the issue of Kosovo and Metohija should be resolved there. The problem is when it is transferred to Europe," he said.

He stated that there was a possibility that the USA would change its position regarding the crisis in Kosovo.

"The institutions of Pristina have no will to consider Resolution 1244, considering that it is probably outdated. Unfortunately, a great power such as the USA has been on the side of Pristina all the time until now. This moment when the leaders of the Serb List were invited to Washington last week, seems to me to be an encouragement to our people. You have sanctions being imposed on Kosovo, and you have a situation where the Serbs are being invited to Washington for the first time. In my personal opinion, perhaps in the attitude of the US towards Kosovo, which until now has been exclusively on Pristina’s side, something can change," Obrknezev believes.
