Office for Kosovo and Metohija: Displaying the Albanian flags next to Serbian houses in Klokot is another form of intimidation
The Office for Kosovo and Metohija assessed that the display of red and black flags in Klokot, on the eve of the Albanian Flag Day, is another attempt to intimidate the Serbian people in that part of Kosovo.
"Albanian flags have nothing to look for next to the Serbian houses in the Kosovo Pomoravlje District and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, and therefore this inappropriate 'decoration' cannot be interpreted otherwise than as a provocation and another step towards the creation of 'Greater Albania'. Albanians have the right to celebrate their holidays, but it is inappropriate when they do so in areas inhabited by Serbs, interrupting their Saint Days celebrations, weddings and other celebrations," the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija reads.
The Office reminded that the Church of Saints Peter and Paul was ransacked and robbed last year on Memorial Day, which, as added in the statement, "clearly sent a message to the Serbs that they were denied even the right to, in accordance with Christian customs, mourn their dead".
"We call on the Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija not to use the Albanian Flag Day to deepen the inter-ethnic gap, and to intimidate and provoke the Serbs," said the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
