Opposition: The government tries to hide the economic failure through the crisis in the north
MPs from the opposition LDK and AAK believe that Minister of Finance Hekuran Murati's assessments of economic growth are wrong and that the Government of Kosovo is trying to minimize the economic damage it has caused to Kosovo with the crisis in the north, Reporteri reports.
LDK MP Besian Mustafa said that Murati had tried to present success in the economy without comparing the situation with the same period in previous years.
"Murati made a basic, elementary mistake in calculating the numbers, trying to present the second quarter of this year as successful. But he forgot to compare the first three months of this year, including the comparison of the first six months of this year with previous years," Mustafa said, adding that investments in the first six months of 2023 were significantly less than in previous years.
AAK Member of Parliament, Time Kadrijaj, said that there was stagnation in Kosovo when it came to foreign investments.
According to her, the Kosovo government is manipulating figures and economic growth, and, she adds, it is trying to minimize the economic damage caused to Kosovo by the crisis created in the north.
"Through the crisis, it created in the north, this government is trying to minimize the damage it has caused to the state either by capital investments or by not investing in education, health, and all other departments,” Kadrijaj said.
