Petkovic with the Ambassador of Turkey: Kurti does not want an agreement; he will not stop attacking the Serbs

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, expressed concern about the situation on the ground during a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Serbia, Hami Aksoy, because, as he pointed out, Albin Kurti's daily, brutal threats to the Serbs and the Serb List indicated that he would not stop his attacks.

"That Pristina is not taking anything in the direction of de-escalation is visible first of all on the ground, where new excesses and exacerbations occur every day, but it was also clear in Brussels, where Kurti showed that he did not want either a conversation or an agreement," Petkovic pointed out, and informed the Turkish Ambassador in detail about the course of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, with special reference to the talks held on September 14 in Brussels, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.

Belgrade, as Petkovic emphasized, had insisted this time on consistently respecting the agreements reached so far in the dialogue with Pristina with the mediation of the EU, above all on the establishment of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, which the Pristina delegation had refused, letting everyone know that they were not interested in negotiations dialogue, and compromise.

Petkovic warned that provocations and attacks on the Serbs were not in the function of regional stability.

He clearly emphasized the commitment of the Serbian leadership to a compromise and comprehensive solution to the Kosovo issue, exclusively through peaceful means.

"Belgrade is fundamentally interested in preserving peace and stability in the province and in the Western Balkans, and that is why it is important to prevent destabilization of the region and new confrontations with decisive political and diplomatic means," Petkovic said.
