Petkovic: Kurti's terror against the innocent Serbs is a consequence of the inaction of international missions that guaranteed that they would not allow it
The brutal terror and naked violence of Albin Kurti that the Serbs had experienced yesterday in Zvecan, Zubin Potok, and Leposavic in the north of Kosovo and Metohija was a direct consequence of the inaction and hypocrisy of the international community, which only yesterday had given more assurances that such a scenario would not be allowed, the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic pointed out.
"I received such guarantees personally, during the countless diplomatic activities we had during the previous day. That is why it is now up to the representatives of the international community, instead of harsh tweets and announcements, to explain to the Serbs in the first place why KFOR did not protect them, and then to take concrete measures and the steps for Kurti to withdraw his occupiers from the north of Kosovo and Metohija. Not to mention that their mission, duty, and obligation according to all valid documents and postulates of international law, from UN Security Council Resolution 1244 to the Brussels Agreement, is to prevent the rampage of Kurti's Special Forces, his incursion into the north of Kosovo and Metohija and to preserve peace and security. They failed that test yesterday," he emphasized in the statement.
Shock bombs, tear gas, and tears in the eyes of Serbian mothers and children, rifles extended to the chests of Serbian elderly and youth who hold their hands in the air as a sign of peace, he says, is a shame and shame of all international actors who yesterday and today became accomplices of Kurti in his attempt to occupy the north of Kosovo.
Today, he adds, it is clear to everyone that Kurti is firmly determined to rekindle the flames of war and conflict in the region, and the part of the international community that supports his reign of terror turned a blind eye to his violence against innocent Serbs.
"Therefore, I understand well the call of the Serb List to stop the dialogue until the end of the occupation, but I also understand well the concern and fear of the Serbs in the north of Kosovo and Metohija in front of the coming evil. All those who allowed Kurti's violence yesterday should think carefully about it. Every occupation has its end, no matter how violently it began, and the suffering Serbs throughout its history survived and outlived numerous occupiers. For us, those Pristina puppets who like to call themselves mayors and rags that Pristina flaunts do not exist, and I will remind Kurti that in the past, for a hundred years, various occupation flags stood out in Kosovo and Metohija, including that of Mussolini's Italy and the flag of Hitler's Third Reich, but that the freedom-loving Serbs placed all those flags where they belong - on the dustbin of history. The same will happen with Kurti's occupation flags," Petkovic said.
The Serbs, he points out, are committed to peace and stability, but all patience has its limits.
"We hope that little Hitler - Kurti will be restrained and punished by his foreign mentors before things go too far," he underlined.
