The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Petar Petkovic said in a guest appearance on Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) TV channel that it was important and significant that the international community understood President Vucic’s request that the West should put the necessary pressure on Pristina in order to stop Kurti's foolish decisions.

Petkovic stated that "President Vucic fought in Brussels to preserve the peace, in order to leave a better future for our children, and not a frozen conflict."

"The situation was very tense. President Vucic was ready for compromise solutions. We did not reach an agreement, because Kurti insisted that he was only interested in the full normalization of relations, which had mutual recognition as a central part of the agreement. That does not exist in the dialogue – those are his wishes," Petkovic said.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija pointed out that "we have accepted several proposals and compromises".

"Kurti says that the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 does not apply to him. We were ready to accept the proposal and not issue new license plates, and that Pristina suspends its decision. Kurti insists on something that is not international law. He wanted to use the dialogue to show that he did not want to agree on any issue and did not want to implement the establishment of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, which was Pristina's obligation, but wanted to discuss mutual recognition. For us, the red line is for Kosovo to join the UN, we do not accept that," Petkovic said.

When it comes to the conversation with the Serbs from Kosovo, he says that "during the whole evening, and after 2 am this morning, Vucic talked with the Serbian people from Kosovo".

"He always talks with them, Serbia is always with them and we will not allow anyone to persecute our people in Kosovo and Metohija. The pogrom and the Storm will not happen again. He asked them all to strive to preserve the peace, to do everything they can with their stance and attitude to not be the party that will be blamed and that would give Kurti a reason to attack our people", Petkovic noted.
