Diplomat Albert Prenkaj told Kosovo Online that the world is on a trajectory toward a new world order and that he believes the main actors at the Munich Security Conference, which begins today, will present the contours of this new world order, outlining a picture of the Global North, the Global South, and the Western Hemisphere.

“At the World Economic Forum in Davos, state officials emphasized that what they call the ‘rupture’ of the old world order and the beginning of a new one has already occurred, and that we must ‘learn to live’ with it. At last year’s Munich Conference, US Vice President J.D. Vance, as well as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, openly spoke about a new doctrine and announced a US national strategy. With the new National Strategy and the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026, the United States is setting the direction of the new world order,” Prenkaj stated for Kosovo Online.

Despite the statement by Russian Federation Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov who, according to Prenkaj, pointed out that the Balkans, that is Bosnia and Herzegovina and other Balkan countries, could be discussed with the United States, Prenkaj believes that peace and security will be maintained in our region due to the presence of NATO forces.

He recalled a statement by the United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Pristina, Jonathan Hargreaves, delivered at NATO headquarters in Brussels, which in his view indicates positive developments, given that Hargreaves spoke about the “future of Kosovo with NATO and the future of NATO with Kosovo,” as well as about Kosovo contributing to European security, potentially in Ukraine and other European countries.

“This context, of course, presupposes positive developments not only for Kosovo but also for the region,” Prenkaj stated.
