Pupin Initiative: First Congressional briefing on Serbia–U.S. relations held on Capitol Hill
At the invitation of Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, Co-Chair of the Serbian Caucus, and in cooperation with the Pupin Initiative, the first congressional briefing dedicated to relations between Serbia and the United States was held on Capitol Hill. According to the organizers, this represents a significant milestone in positioning Serbia within the framework of institutional dialogue in Washington.
The briefing, as stated, brought together members of Congress, diplomats, political advisors, and relevant stakeholders in the field of foreign policy.
On that occasion, the President of the Pupin Initiative, Vuk Velebit, presented the Annual Report on Serbia–U.S. Relations for 2025, which provides a comprehensive analysis of key trends, challenges, and strategic opportunities in bilateral relations.
“It was highlighted during the briefing that Serbia–U.S. relations are increasingly developing through concrete cooperation in the areas of security, economy, technology, and energy, and that a gradual transformation of the relationship toward a higher level of strategic alignment is underway,” the Pupin Initiative stated.
Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that this briefing represents the first step toward a more systematic and institutionalized dialogue with the U.S. legislative branch, which is of crucial importance for the long-term strengthening of bilateral relations.
“This is not just another event, but an important institutional breakthrough. For the first time, Serbia–U.S. relations were presented directly within the framework of Congress, with a focus on tangible results and future directions of cooperation,” Velebit stated.
The Pupin Initiative will continue to work on deepening the strategic dialogue between Serbia and the United States, with the aim of strengthening economic and energy cooperation, as well as the security partnership.
