Ambassador of Germany to Kosovo, Jorn Rohde, stated for Dukagjini that the Quint countries had not criticized the decision of the Central Bank to ban the dinar in Kosovo, but rather the way it was implemented.

Rohde said that additional discussions were needed to prevent the situation from escalating.

"This was done in a way that should not have been done. Citizens need to be informed. We are not criticizing the CBK decision, but rather the way it is being implemented because citizens were not informed. We have a dialogue, there is no need for additional demands and tensions," Rohde pointed out.

He adds that one way to address this issue is through an agreement between the CBK and the National Bank of Serbia.

"We always talk about European standards, and good governance is one way. The use of the dinar has been a problem for some time; Serbia needs to engage on this issue and the transfer of euros, and there should be a way for that. The two banks should talk within the dialogue and solve this issue as we have solved the issue of license plates, energy, and others," Rohde added.

Rohde says he is optimistic that compromise and rationality will prevail.

"I am optimistic and hope that compromise and rationality will prevail, and we are convinced that this is a technical issue, and we will treat it as such. It is good to have clear instructions, clear deadlines, what will happen and when, and then the public will be better informed. I read in the newspapers that Serbs will block roads; these are tensions, and now is not the time for that. We need dialogue," he added.
