Sadiku: High time for Kurti to postpone the decision on license plates

Political analyst Arbnor Sadiku said that the emergency meeting in Brussels between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic would end without any agreement, Ekonomija online reports.

Sadiku says that this will happen considering that Kurti's and Vucic's statements show that they are not ready for new compromises.

"We expect very little from this meeting," Sadiku said.

He believes that if the Government does not withdraw the decision on license plates, it will lead to complete uncertainty regarding the control of the "sovereignty" of Kosovo in the north.

"If the Government of Kosovo does not withdraw its decision, it will send the country to a dead end, the path by which the status quo continues which is harmful to Kosovo brings nothing positive except bad news for Kosovo and complete uncertainty of control of the sovereignty of Kosovo in its northern part", Sadiku said.

Sadiku stated that it was Kurti's obligation to make life easier for the citizens of Kosovo and that the Prime Minister of Kosovo should have listened to international representatives and postponed the decision on license plates in order to pave the way for a final comprehensive agreement.

"It is the duty of every prime minister, including Kurti, to make life easier for the citizens of Kosovo, not to make it difficult by not making new compromises concerning Serbia and not listening to international representatives. It is high time that Kurti thinks about the demands of our international friends and postpone the decision on license plates and sit down to talk with Vucic about reaching a comprehensive and final agreement, which would also include the issue of license plates," Sadiku said.
