The Department for Electoral Operations today proposed to the Central Election Commission a decision under which the Serb List would have representatives in 14 out of a total of 38 municipal election commissions, and the Commission adopted this proposal despite opposition from the Serb List member, the party said in a statement.

The statement further emphasizes that the practice continues of “denying us the right to monitor and control elections in accordance with the law and democratic standards.”

“This raises doubts about the electoral process, bearing in mind the results of previous elections, when our political opponents, and Kurti’s favorites, were receiving Albanian votes in areas where there have been no Serbs for decades. Unfortunately, these are the fourth elections in a year and a half, and for the fourth time we are facing the same situation. Although we have the right to appeal, the question arises as to whether it is meaningful, given that our appeals so far—even when upheld—have not brought any positive change, while reports by international observers have either set this issue aside or mentioned it only reluctantly in a few sentences, thereby effectively legitimizing such conduct by the CEC by assessing the elections as democratic and inclusive,” the Serb List stated, adding:

“Despite all pressures, even in the face of violations of the law, we assure our citizens that the Serb List will continue its struggle for the rights of the Serbian people, and we will not allow such underhanded tactics to prevent us from fighting for those rights, above all the right of our people to choose their own representatives who will act in the interest of citizens rather than serve the regime in Pristina,” the statement concludes.
