Serb List: Even the deceased find no peace from Kurti and his followers

The Serb List strongly condemned the actions of Kosovo Police, who this morning took the body of M.R., a young man who died in a traffic accident, from his family shortly before the funeral to conduct an autopsy. They emphasize that this caused additional pain to the grieving family.

The Serb List stated that a large number of armed Kosovo Police officers entered Banjska, the deceased’s home village, this morning and took his body from the family.

“We are horrified by the behavior of Kurti’s paramilitary units and strongly condemn today’s raid in Banjska, where, under pressure, they took the body of M.R., a young man killed in a traffic accident, from his family. At a time of their deepest grief, they inflicted even greater pain on this already suffering family. According to locals, dozens of heavily armed members of Kurti’s phalanxes entered this Serbian village this morning and seized the young man’s body while the family was preparing to bury him and say their final goodbyes. This was all under the pretext of taking the body to Pristina for an autopsy,” the statement from the Serb List reads.

They noted that the family had no choice but to follow the body of their deceased son to Pristina.

“This intrusion has alarmed all Serbs in northern Kosovo and Metohija, and the inhumanity of such actions has outraged the entire Serbian people. If the living can find no peace from Kurti and his followers, how can the deceased be denied peace as well?” the statement pointed out.

Today’s events, they noted, are an insult to all Serbs and a “stain on the honor” of those who, in meetings with Serb List representatives, speak of the rule of law and respect for human rights.

“The seizure of the body of this tragically deceased Serbian boy from his loved ones will leave a permanent scar on the hearts of all Serbs in the north, and throughout Kosovo and Metohija. This act will serve as a reminder to all of us never to accept such violence again.” the statement concluded.
