Serb List filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court over the violation of Serbs’ rights in the Kosovo Parliament
Members of the Serb List submitted a complaint today to the Constitutional Court over what they described as a severe violation of the rights of the Serbian people during sessions of the Assembly in Pristina.
In the statement of the Serb List, it is emphasized that constitutional and democratic principles have been grossly undermined, and that the Serbian people have been prevented from exercising their guaranteed rights.
They stated that they expect the Constitutional Court to react urgently and take all necessary measures to protect the rule of law, as well as the rights of the Serbian people in accordance with applicable legal acts.
“The Serb List remains consistent in its fight to preserve the rights and interests of the Serbian people and will continue to use all legal and institutional means to ensure full equality,” the statement adds.
It was announced two days ago by the Vice President of the Serb List, Igor Simic, that they would file a complaint with the Constitutional Court.
“The Rules of Procedure are being violated, which clearly state that the vice president from the Serbian community must have the support of the majority of Serbian MPs, and in this case, that is Slavko Simic, who won a legitimate mandate. Unfortunately, the Rules of Procedure and the Constitution are being violated, all with the aim of installing Nenad Rasic in that position with the support of the ruling party, against all rules. It should also be known that he does not have the support of Serbian MPs and the Serbian people, since in the elections he received five times fewer votes than Slavko Simic,” Simic told reporters in parliament two days ago.
