Shahini: Kosovo loses over 500 million euros due to EU punitive measures
The president of the Kosovo Business Alliance, Agim Shahini, said that Kosovo, due to the failure to take steps for de-escalation in the north and the punitive measures of the EU, would lose around 500 million euros of support by the end of the year, reports Reporteri.
Shahini points out that it could not have been assumed that Kosovo would find itself in this position in relation to its allies.
"Kosovo is experiencing a time that no one thought of, that after liberation we will be faced with sanctioning measures from friends who were and are co-owners of liberation and independence," Shahini said.
According to him, these measures are directed against the government of Kosovo, but will directly affect the lives of citizens.
"Those are the measures that we will feel if they continue until the end of the year, each of us, especially businessmen, producers and exporters. The damage can be over 500 million euros and this is probably the biggest damage that can be done to Kosovo in this situation," he warned.
The decision on license plates and the holding of elections in the north of the country without the presence of Serbs are mistakes made by Kosovo institutions, as he points out.
"The first steps I can say were wrong, trying to extend sovereignty over license plates, which was Kosovo's right, but not the moment. The second moment was when Kosovo held elections in the north without the presence of the Serbs and without their desire" says Shahini.
