Serb List parliamentary group leader Igor Simic and his deputy Srdjan Popovic met today in Pristina with the European Union Special Representative in Kosovo, Ambassador Dirk Siebert, to discuss the position of the Serbian people, the current political situation and the forthcoming European Commission report on Kosovo’s progress, the Serb List said in a statement.

Serb List representatives expressed their expectation that the forthcoming European Commission report would devote particular attention to the difficult position of the Serbian people, the numerous challenges they face on a daily basis, and the need for stronger engagement by institutions and international representatives in protecting the fundamental human, civil and political rights of Serbs.

“The meeting also addressed European reform legislation that will be considered by the Assembly in Pristina in the coming period, as well as the importance of the participation of representatives of the Serbian people in decision-making and reform implementation processes. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on the fact that the European Union recognizes the Serb List as an important and constructive partner both in the European reform process and in political life in this region,” the statement said.

The Serb List added that it remained committed to constructive political engagement, cooperation with European Union representatives and consistent advocacy of the interests of the Serbian people, while insisting that every reform and political process must take into account the rights, needs and legitimate interests of Serbs.
