The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia stated that the uncoordinated and unilateral decision-making by the Kosovo Government does not contribute to achieving a unanimous position within the EU on lifting the measures against Kosovo.

The Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Tanja Fajon, emphasized to Gazeta Express that Slovenia, the EU, and international partners consistently insist on constructive cooperation within the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue as the only valid path for both Kosovo and Serbia.

"Slovenia, the EU, and other international partners have repeatedly stressed the importance of constructive cooperation within the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue as the only possible path for Kosovo and Serbia," the statement said.

The MFA pointed out that, in this context, uncoordinated actions by either side are excluded.

"We have always clearly emphasized that such a way of acting excludes uncoordinated steps by both sides. Such actions are not favorable for achieving consensus among EU member states on lifting the measures against Kosovo," it stated.

Slovenia has always advocated for a balanced approach toward both Pristina and Belgrade, the Slovenian MFA stated.

Kosovo has been under EU punitive measures since June 2023.

The decision on their removal is in the hands of the member states, and full unity of all 27 European Union countries is required for such a move.

The decisions made by the Kosovo Government in the north, which allies criticized as unilateral and uncoordinated, have undermined Kosovo’s position and negatively affected the stance of some member states regarding whether the measures against Kosovo should be lifted, the portal reported.
