Spahiu: Kosovo will suffer due to increased military spending by NATO neighbors
Political analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu stated that the announced increase in military spending by NATO member states will worsen their economies, and that Kosovo will also suffer as a result in the Western Balkans.
"Since all countries in the region except Serbia, Bosnia, and Kosovo are NATO members, this means there will be significant spending for all our neighbors, which in turn will worsen their economies. Consequently, there will also be a decline in Kosovo. We will suffer. The small suffer not only from their own foolishness, but also from the foolishness of others, of the bigger ones," Spahiu told Kosovo Online.
He explained that the announcement of higher allocations for NATO indicates that the global economy is in decline, and that in such circumstances, impoverished regions are the ones that suffer the most.
"When NATO invests more, then other sides invest more as well, and all of that affects the global economy. That is why poor areas like ours suffer the most. In fact, when we look at the conflicts in Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, and now between India and Pakistan, we get the impression that the world has gone mad, that it’s heading in a completely wrong direction. Instead of peace and calm, advancement in science and technology, and greater understanding and dialogue among people, we are moving more and more toward conflicts that put the planet in great danger," Spahiu warned.
