Spahiu: Osmani seeks women’s votes because they make up half of the electorate in Kosovo

University professor Nexhmedin Spahiu stated that former Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani wants to win women’s votes in the elections, aware that women make up half of the electorate in Kosovo.

“Osmani is seeking women’s votes. She has a political vision to gather their votes by appealing to feminism, given that half of the voters in Kosovo are women. Women are also the deciding factor within the family when it comes to who will receive the vote. This goes against the prejudice that men decide where the vote goes. However, things are different now, so women are the ones deciding who the children will vote for, and perhaps even who their husbands will vote for in the elections,” Spahiu told Kosovo Online.

He noted that Osmani’s target group consists of voters who previously voted for Self-Determination, but also for her in the previous elections.

“Her goal is to bring down Kurti, so all the people she is gathering, and there are 20 of them on the LDK list, are important in that sense. That is her strategy to win as many votes as possible. That electorate belonged to Kurti, so she is addressing them in order to challenge Kurti as easily as possible,” Spahiu concluded.
