Svecla and Kurti arrest the Serbs according to their list, without cooperation with the prosecution
During the previous days, the Kosovo Police arrested several Serbs under very vague charges. According to information from the Kosovo judiciary, today's arrest of Nenad Orlovic in North Mitrovica the Special Police executed based on a verbal telephone order, which speaks in favor of the fact that police actions in the north are directed by Minister Xhelal Svecla personally, in coordination with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, without prior cooperation with the prosecution and the court.
"The prosecutors did not receive any list from the police with the names of the wanted persons, but the police arrest them according to the list and after the arrest and questioning, involve the prosecution and deliver evidence. It is obvious that Kurti does not trust the judicial authorities in Kosovo and bypasses them, which then gives the police the "authorities" to arrest according to some of his lists," one of the former prosecutors confirmed to us.
Recently, the President of the Social Democratic Party, Dardan Molliqaj, criticized Prime Minister Albin Kurti's speech at the Assembly of Kosovo, in which Kurti had mentioned 28 names of the Serbs, accusing them of organizing and participating in the riots in the north, saying that it was not up to the Prime Minister to lead the investigation.
Molliqay said that such a thing had not happened in any democratic country without a preliminary assessment of whether the mentioned persons were guilty or innocent.
He added that it was not the Prime Minister's job to conduct an investigation.
"Where have you seen that the Prime Minister conducts investigations? He raises charges against every person, and it is not said whether they are true or not," Molliqaj said.
On the other hand, Kurti recently stated that arrests in any part of Kosovo, even in the north, were decided by the Kosovo Police and the Prosecutor's Office, thus responding to the remarks of the High EU Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, Josep Borrell that such actions, authorities in Kosovo should coordinate with KFOR and EULEX.
