The US Congresswoman Claudia Tenney, chair of the Serbian Caucus, stated that the State Department's agreement to send "Javelin" missiles to Kosovo was "incredibly inflammatory", especially as tensions had escalated in the Western Balkans, pointing out that this decision only added fuel to the fire and increased the likelihood of a new conflict.

"The State Department's agreement to send 'Javelin' missiles to Kosovo is incredibly inflammatory, especially as tensions have increased in the Western Balkans. This decision only adds fuel to the fire and makes it more likely that a new conflict will erupt. Moreover, this decision rewards Kosovo as it continues to ignore previous international commitments, such as those agreed upon in the 2013 Brussels Agreement", Tenney stated on the social network "X".

She recalled that she had initiated legislation to support the 2013 Brussels Agreement to hold Kosovo accountable for not respecting international agreements.

Tenney believes that the US should not continue to arm and finance the "clear disregard for international norms by Kurti's regime".

"We know that sending additional weapons to Kosovo will not lead to peace. Instead, Serbia and Kosovo have made diplomatic progress towards achieving a stable, secure, and prosperous Western Balkans region. Therefore, I will introduce a joint resolution disapproving the arms sale under the Export Control Act when Congress is officially notified of this sale. I call on Congress to promptly adopt this resolution and also urge the President to change course", Tenney concluded.
