Former mayor of Leposavic, Zoran Todic, stated that it was more than obvious that the authorities in Pristina, with a new draft law on expropriation, were not giving up on seizing Serbian land.

Todic emphasized that it was more than obvious that all the bases built in the last year in northern Kosovo had been built illegally.

"This is also proved by the new draft law, where one article defines that the construction of objects for military and police needs, for infrastructure, and for telecommunication channels that would lead to those bases is of public interest. The draft law also provides that the land and wider areas around the objects can be subject to expropriation. It is more than obvious that the government in Pristina is not giving up on their intention to seize Serbian land and Serbian property for the construction of military and police bases in the north", Todic stated.

He noted that the Serbs, whose land had been usurped, were determined not to give up the fight.

"Serbian hosts, who live on the land and property subject to this expropriation, are resolute and determined not to allow the construction of any police or military bases on their property, which they inherited from their fathers and grandfathers. Therefore, Pristina's intentions do not lead to normalization," Todic said.

He expressed hope that the international community would understand and influence the government in Pristina to give up on these intentions.

"Serbs are left with only legal means to fight against these anti-Serbian decisions and to oppose them with all democratic methods against the decisions of the authorities in Pristina," Todic concluded.
