Tolkach: Gratitude to Vucic; Ukraine respects Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia, Volodymyr Tolkach, once again confirmed Ukraine's principled position of respecting Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as supporting the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina mediated by the European Union, RTV reports.
According to him, the current escalation of the security situation in Kosovo and the Balkan region is primarily in the interest of Russia, which, he claims, is trying to divert Europe's attention from "Russian war crimes in Ukraine."
"It is not a coincidence that the situation in northern Kosovo began to escalate last year, precisely after the failure of Russia's blitzkrieg against Ukraine," Tolkach believes.
As stated by the Embassy of Ukraine, he expressed gratitude to Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic for drawing attention to events in Ukraine, for the humanitarian aid received by the Ukrainian people, and for creating extremely favorable conditions for the displaced from Ukraine who have found refuge in Serbia.
Tolkach mentioned that Ukraine is not only defending itself today but also common European values and the future and that he expects that Serbia will strengthen its support for the struggle of the Ukrainian people, and that such increased support and the eventual liberation of the whole of Ukraine will also be in the interests of all Serbs, as reported by Tanjug.
"Can we expect that the 'terrorists from the Kremlin' will have a positive influence on Kosovo and the region when they have leveled dozens of cities in the Ukrainian Donbas, including the historic administrative center of Sloviansk, Bakhmut, and killed thousands of people who predominantly spoke Russian in eastern Ukraine? If they bombard Ukrainian civilian infrastructure daily with missiles and drones, if they blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant and committed an act of ecocide a month ago, and now they are blackmailing the world and Europe with the threat of a terrorist attack on the largest European nuclear power plant in Zaporizhzhia?" Tolkach questioned.
