Representatives of the Pupin Initiative, American and Serbian citizens, will depart for Kosovo today to observe the situation on the ground, as we are concerned about the Serbian population and their current situation in Kosovo based on what we read in the press, Ivan Trifunovic, a member of the Pupin Initiative's Advisory Board from Pennsylvania, said in a statement to Kosovo Online.

"This will be a 'fact-finding mission,' as it's called in English, to see what is happening on the ground, but we also want to help improve the situation and promote dialogue between the Albanian and Serbian sides. To that end, we will have discussions with both Serbian and Albanian organizations, and we will also visit the US Embassy in Pristina to meet with US Ambassador Hovenier," Trifunovic stated.

After the visit to Kosovo, a report will be prepared based on the conversations held, and what the members of this group have seen and heard will be published in the media, he added.

"We also plan to go to Washington in September, where the Pupin Initiative will organize the second 'Pupin Forum.' The first one was in Belgrade, and now it will be in Washington. On that occasion, we will meet with members of the US Congress, the State Department, and other key players on the political scene in Washington, to whom we will present what we have heard and seen and, of course, provide our commentary," Trifunovic said.

According to the plan, part of the 'mission' in Kosovo will include visits to the Visoki Decani Monastery, Pristina, North Mitrovica, and several other locations.

"Since the Pupin Initiative works to improve US-Serbian relations, and America already has very good relations with Kosovo, we believe that America, as an impartial observer, could play a key role in building trust and pushing forward the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia," Trifunovic said.

The Pupin Initiative, which closely monitors all events in the Kosovo area, has on several occasions informed the public and the administrations of the US and Serbia about alarming reports it has received, proposed certain measures, and advocated for clearer engagement with the situation on the ground.
