UNS and DNKiM: The American Embassy is obliged to invite the Serbian media to talks about the CSM
The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) with its branch in Kosovo, the Association of Journalists of Kosovo and Metohija (DNKiM) expressed its protest over the fact that some newsrooms in the Serbian language were not invited to report from yesterday's meeting in Pristina, where the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities was discussed, as well as because RTS cameraman Vladimir Milic was forbidden to film the US Embassy building after the meeting.
In addition to American diplomats, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Kosovo authorities, political parties and civil society organizations.
RTS cameraman Vladimir Milic told the UNS website that after the meeting he filmed the US Embassy building outside the complex of the US diplomatic mission in Pristina, but that a member of the Kosovo Police Service approached him and asked him to delete the footage.
"At the moment when I was packing my equipment, he came up to me and said that 'filming embassies is strictly prohibited and is subject to criminal liability.' He demanded that I delete the recorded material, which I did," Milic added.
While he was deleting the footage of the embassy, the policeman, says Milic, took a photo of him and the ID card of the cameraman of the Kosovo online portal.
"UNS and DNKiM say that the selection of the media is unacceptable, and if it is unavoidable due to technical reasons, the organizer is obliged to answer according to which principles he chooses the media to which he will send an invitation to the event", it is stated on the website of the UNS.
The association points out that by preventing and limiting the work of journalists, the right to information, which is guaranteed by numerous international conventions, is violated.
Therefore, it reminds that it is important that all media working in Kosovo can transmit information from meetings where important issues for Serbs in Kosovo are discussed.
