Vucevic: Kurti’s poor direction; Serbia insists on international investigation

The Prime Minister of Serbia, Milos Vucevic, tells RTS that Albin Kurti has overstepped and that Serbia is insisting on an international investigation into the explosion at the Ibar-Lepenac canal.

Regarding the explosion at the Ibar-Lepenac canal and the recent prevention of Serb List representatives from attending a parliamentary session in Pristina, Prime Minister Vucevic says it appears to be a poorly staged scenario, and that Kurti has “overplayed his hand in this entire scenario and cinematography.”

Vucevic emphasizes that Serbia insists on an international investigation involving all relevant international stakeholders and is ready to cooperate.

“Serbia is deeply invested, if I may phrase it that way, in determining exactly what happened in Zubin Potok, because we are absolutely certain that no Serbs or Serbia itself were involved. This is clearly a setup designed to portray Kurti as a victim and to once again drag Serbia into some kind of conflict,” Vucevic stated.

He adds that it would now be interesting to hear the responses from the Quint countries and the European Union.

“What will they say? That these are European values? Or will someone now praise the development of democracy and institutions in the province, in Kosovo and Metohija? What exactly will someone say, given that we have reached a point where a parliamentary representative or representatives are being banned from participating in discussions?” Vucevic pointed out.

The Prime Minister reiterates that Belgrade is ready to engage in dialogue with the Albanians and to seek a compromise.

“I believe that compromise is a good word and that it is necessary for both the Serbian and Albanian people. But compromise does not mean that Serbia capitulates. Compromise does not mean that we give everything and receive nothing,” Vucevic emphasized, adding that it is impossible for Serbia to recognize what they call Kosovo.
