Vucic on the attack outside the Israeli Embassy: We will show no mercy towards terrorism
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated that Serbia will show no mercy towards terrorism following the crossbow attack on a gendarme officer outside the Israeli Embassy. He emphasized that it is just a matter of time until all terrorists are apprehended.
Vucic informed reporters that the injured gendarme officer, Milos Jevremovic, underwent a successful operation.
"The operation was successful. The attacker suddenly fired an arrow from a bag and hit Milos Jevremovic in the neck. He incredibly skillfully and in a serious and responsible manner neutralized the terrorist. What was most important was that he refrained from removing the arrow from the neck, as it would have been fatal. It required incredible discipline," President Vucic said regarding the attack on the gendarme officer near the Israeli Embassy.
He added that Jevremovic is now doing well.
"Milos neutralized the terrorist and waited for the police and emergency medical services. He is now in very good condition. We do not expect more serious complications. There are several individuals we are still searching for; one person is currently inaccessible to us, but we know they are within Serbia's territory. I want to tell you that they were under surveillance, and the prosecutor needed about seven or eight days to gather evidence for their arrest. These are individuals who have entered extremist circles, and they were monitored along terrorist lines. It was known that the main terrorist had come last night to visit his mother, and that's where the possibility of surveillance was lost, and unfortunately, this morning this happened," Vucic added.
Vucic emphasized that the state guarantees security and safety.
"We will continue the operation and guarantee security and safety. I congratulate the commanders and everyone in the police on Milos Jevremovic's exceptional conduct; he will be decorated as soon as he leaves the hospital. The suspects were already under surveillance due to their illegal activities. We didn't know this could happen; there are more like them still at large. The operation will last four days to apprehend them all and ensure our streets are safe. We are currently pursuing them, and it's only a matter of time and technique until they are captured. The most important thing is that our hero Milos is alive and well; he showed how to react in such a moment. We will show no mercy towards terrorism," stated the President of Serbia.
