Vucic: CSM must be formed in accordance with the Brussels Agreement
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that he had not seen the proposal for the Draft Statute of the Community of Serbian Municipalities prepared by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, indicating that the Community of Serbian Municipalities must be formed on the principles agreed in 2013 and 2015 as part of the Brussels Agreement.
Vucic, at the joint media conference with Rama, answered the questions of the journalists and said "I haven't seen Edi Rama's proposal. But I have to refer you to the Brussels agreement and the Franco-German plan, that the CSM must be formed on the basis of what was signed in 2013 and 2015," said Vucic.
He pointed out that there were hard negotiations for two and a half years.
"We are not asking for anything more or less, just put the principles because the Serbs have accepted everything else, including the regional police, the judiciary, and participation in the elections, even the Civil Protection, which some recently declared a terrorist organization," said Vucic.
He emphasized that the CSM must be formed and reminded that it should have been formed 10 or more years ago.
Vucic stated that he is always ready for a conversation, which, he recalls, he has never refused with anyone, because, as he states, he is trying to find a solution and maintain peace, but that what is needed now is a reaction from Pristina, for the mayors to withdraw at the same time from the northern municipalities elected with 3.4 percent of the vote, as well as the police from the vicinity of the municipal buildings.
"No normal person looks forward to new national trenches and the possibility of any conflicts, I didn't accidentally say "no one normal". We want peace and it's not just a proclamation, we're working on it no matter how hard it is for us. I know that in Tirana and Pristina they always want to see Serbia as evil and guilty of anything... The situation in Serbia is very difficult in this regard, not to mention the reaction of the Serbian people in the north and in other parts of Kosovo. But what remains for us is to preserve the peace" noted the president of Serbia.
When it comes to the conversation with Kurti, Vucic pointed out that he never had a problem talking to anyone and in that sense reminded that he also met with Hashim Thaci, Isa Mustafa and Avdulah Hoti, and that he tried to find a peaceful solution in every conversation, so that citizens could live better.
“When am I going to see Kurti? Well, you don't even know when those who should be closer to him will see him," Vucic stated.
He repeated that the most important thing is to preserve peace and think about economic growth.
"I'm not as optimistic as Rama, but he knows better how to talk to bureaucrats from Brussels. I hope it will be successful, because that's what people live for," said Vucic.
