Former Serbian President and leader of the “United Serbia” list Aleksandar Vucic said this evening that there was deep concern among Serbs in Kosovo and that he hoped the election winners would understand their position.

“There is deep concern among our people in Kosovo and Metohija. I hope they will understand the position of our people in Kosovo and Metohija, and then we will see how things develop,” Vucic said on TV Pink.

Speaking about expectations of the new government regarding its relations with Serbs in the region, Vucic said it would have to establish proper relations with the leadership of the Republic of Srpska.

“There will never be too much trust there, but there does not have to be. It is enough for them to have proper and good relations, and I will always support them in that,” Vucic said, adding that he would never describe something good as bad.

Regarding Montenegro, Vucic said he understood the attachment of the three Student List leaders to that country, given their Montenegrin origins, but noted that they also had to demonstrate their commitment to Serbia and to the Serbian people in Montenegro.

“That does not mean threatening Montenegro’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, but rather showing respect for, supporting and assisting Serbs in Montenegro. That would be the normal approach,” Vucic said.

Commenting on announcements that an official delegation would travel to Moscow immediately after the formation of Serbia’s new government, Vucic remarked that it would be “interesting to see whether they will be allowed to do so.”

“Putin will always want to talk to representatives of Serbia, but the question is whether Brussels or Berlin will allow them to do so. Just wait and see,” Vucic said.
