Vucic: In early May, the Easter Assembly of Serbia and Republika Srpska will be held; we will make decisions about the survival of the Serbs on their hearths
President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced that a grand Easter Assembly of Serbia and Republika Srpska would be held on May 5th and 6th, during which important decisions regarding the survival of the Serbs on their hearths, economic progress, preservation of the Serbian language and Cyrillic script, and shared cultural heritage would be made.
This comes as a result of today's discussions between President Vucic, President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, and Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
"After several hours of discussions between Dodik and me, in the presence of Patriarch Porfirije, we have reached the joint conclusion that a grand Easter Assembly of Serbia and Republika Srpska will be held on May 5th and 6th in Belgrade and other parts of Serbia," Vucic stated, as announced by the presidential press service.
During this Assembly, significant decisions regarding the survival of the Serbs on their hearths, their economic advancement, the preservation of the Serbian language and Cyrillic script, as well as the shared cultural heritage, will be made, Vucic emphasized.
He added that the new Government of Serbia and the Government of Republika Srpska would prepare a declaration and possibly other legal acts, which would be presented together in the same document for adoption by the assemblies of Serbia and Republika Srpska.
He conveyed that he and Dodik had informed Patriarch Porfirije about the gravity of the political situation affecting the Serbs and sought his blessing and support from the Serbian Orthodox Church.
"We will inform the public about all other details in the coming period," President Vucic added.
