Vucic in Kragujevac: When the state is threatened, the most important thing is to be united, there is no adventurism
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said this morning in Kragujevac, before the beginning of the Sretenje (Serbia's Statehood Day) Academy "Knezev Zapis", that when the state and its foundations are threatened, in the conditions of a difficult situation in the world, the most important thing is to be together, gathered and united in the desire to save the country, RTV reports.
"And that has nothing to do with political parties – it has to do with what the Serbian people will be, but also all other citizens of Serbia, so that they understand that we have something sacred, and that is our country Serbia. And we have nothing more sacred than that," Vucic pointed out.
No games, no adventurism, we need a serious and responsible approach, which means preserving peace and stability, because we need children in the future, Vucic emphasized, addressing the citizens who met him in front of the Old Assembly in Kragujevac.
Vucic first visited the old church in Kragujevac, dedicated to the Holy Trinity, which was built by Prince Milos Obrenovic in 1818, when he declared Kragujevac the capital of Serbia.
The academy started at 9 a.m. with the singing of the national anthem, followed by the address of the mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dasic, and then the president's speech.
The ceremony is attended by the president of the Serbian Parliament, Vladimir Orlic, ministers Ivica Dacic, Branko Ruzic, Bratisalv Gasic, and other dignitaries.
The program will include the "Knezev Zapis" play, based on the text of Vladimir Djordjevic and directed by Mladen Knezevic. The play features Petar Lukic, Cedomir Stajn, Nikola Milojevic, Avram Cvetkovic, Nadezda Jakovljevic, Milica Lazovic and Marija Rakocevic.
The academy will end with the song "Ovo je Srbija" (This is Serbia), which will be performed by the City Chamber Choir Liceum.
In Kragujevac, on February 15, 1835, the first Sretenje Constitution was adopted.
