Vucic: They launched the aggression for two reasons, to show that they are the strongest and to seize Kosovo and Metohija from Serbia
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said tonight in Sombor, at the commemoration of the 24th anniversary of the beginning of the NATO aggression against the FRY, that on March 24, 1999, international law had finally died, but that today they were asking Serbia to provide justification for all the wrongs that had been done, stressing that they would never receive land from Serbia "on a platter" or justification for crimes.
"Twenty-four years ago, modern international law finally died. And that sounds like an unimportant bureaucratic word, but it's much more than that. Since then, nothing that happens can be worse than what they did to a small country that was guilty because it wanted to be on its own, free, libertarian, and as such was not liked by those who in 1989, and 1990, overthrew the old and created a new order, in which only they are questioned, and the disobedient must be punished," Vucic said.
As he stated, they had succeeded in destroying much larger countries, the USSR, and Yugoslavia, and then it had been the turn of disobedient Serbia, which had not wanted to accept the dictates, to finally suffer and "get what it deserves".
Vucic said that the word genocide, which had been used at the time as a justification for aggression, and it basically meant the destruction of a nation.
"They fabricated everything; it never existed except for the Albanian henchmen. You did not prevent a humanitarian disaster, but rather armed rebel groups in a free country, which did not set foot on the territory of another country. And, when you saw that you could not get a formal - legal justification, nor the approval of the UN Security Council, then you said - 'why do we need it? What do we need law and justice for, we will do it ourselves, because we are the only ones in the world, 19 of us, the biggest, the strongest, the most powerful, will gather and attack that little free and libertarian Serbia, we will teach Serbia and the citizens who live there, once and for all,'' Vucic said.
He stated that 24 years had passed since that year when "they tore our parts, killed 79 children, 2,500 people, and not only civilians but also soldiers and policemen".
"Who are you to kill our soldiers and policemen, who are on their own land? Where did you get the right from, who gave you that right?" the President of Serbia asked.
"And, have you taught us wisdom? You have tried repeatedly to break the spirit of defiance and freedom, but you have never broken it," President Vucic said.
He pointed out that today they were pressuring Serbia and asking it to provide justifications for everything unjustified that they had done to it.
"Let's agree that you didn't make a terrible and big mistake when you committed those crimes. You are telling us to look to the future. We want to look to the future, that's why we have peace and we will protect it. We never want any more conflicts with the Albanians, Bosniaks, Croats, or with you, the great and mighty. There were 19 of you then. Gentlemanly, fair, as only you heroes can do. And then you wonder how there is another small defiant nation in the heart of Europe, which does not take it upon itself to protect its country," Vucic said.
As he pointed out, everything they had claimed for themselves, they never had done for others, and that's why it sounded hypocritical today when they protected someone's integrity.
"We do it rightfully, also regarding Ukraine, but you protect it... Today you refer to the UN Charter, to resolutions... You, who even today, do not respect the UN Charter when it comes to a one small country. You are not interested in Resolution 1244, and you ask that all others be respected. You demand that what is not signed be respected, you don't respect what you have signed and accepted, because you can... What do you care, you are strong and powerful," Vucic said.
The president emphasized that peace had to be preserved and that he was doing his best to preserve that peace.
"And no one clouded my mind, nor darkened my mind. I have not become a miserable traitor, and it was said by those who not only remained silent in the worst way but carried out the orders of those who carried out the aggression and called it campaigns and interventions... It is mine to lead Serbia now when it is in deep waters, in which no one can talk rationally with anyone, where no one actually talks about peace, only about the victory of one side and the defeat of the other side..." Vucic said.
It is necessary, he says, to preserve Serbia and every child, no matter where they live.
"But we will never give them the country on a plate and justification for all the crimes they have committed," the President of Serbia said.
He stated that the aggression had been launched for two reasons - to show that they were the strongest and that they could do everything, and the second - to seize Kosovo and Metohija from Serbia.
"Don't fabricate stories and reasons, today there are more Albanians in Kosovo and Metohija than then, only the Serbs are three times less. And they really don't care that there are no Serbs, not even the 40,000 in Pristina and that it is deserted, that there are no Serbs in Peja, that there are almost none in Prizren, Urosevac, and Gjilan. It's none of their business, just to get justification for everything they've done," Vucic said.
"You demolished us repeatedly; you tried to break us; killed children, but you did not kill us, this nation will live despite your attempts, you will not break it," the President of Serbia emphasized.
He added that Serbia was facing a difficult period, but also pointed out that when Serbia said what its red lines were, no one should play with it.
"When we say what our red lines are, don't play with it. You will receive the answer of proud, heroic, dignified Serbia. And our answer is - we are not giving Serbia away and we will never give it to anyone," Vucic said.
