Zogaj: Arrests in Mitrovica are a shameful act by the police and an open call from Kurti for Serbs to engage in disobedience
Political analyst Petrit Zogaj reacted to the arrests in North Mitrovica during the visit of Kosovo's Prime Minister Albin Kurti, stating that Kurti aims to provoke the Serbs with this action.
He described the arrest of Aleksandar Arsenijevic, simply for blowing a whistle, as a shameful act by the Kosovo police.
On his Facebook profile, Zogaj wrote that these actions are an open call from the government for the Serbs in the north to engage in civil disobedience.
"This arrest, because a citizen is whistling at the prime minister, besides being shameful as a police action, is an open call from Kurti's government for the citizens of the north to engage in civil disobedience. Most likely, this is Kurti's goal," Zogaj wrote.
In a video published by Nacionale, Aleksandar Arsenijevic is seen surrounded by a group of people, blowing a whistle and recording with his phone. A uniformed police officer approaches him, asking him to stop. When he ignored the request, the officer attempted to twist his arm, and people nearby, believed to be plainclothes police officers, immediately intervened.
As previously reported by Kosovo Online, Arsenijevic was arrested at the moment when Prime Minister Albin Kurti, accompanied by Minister of Police Xhelal Sveçla and Minister of Local Government Administration Albert Krasniqi, was entering a newly opened fast-food restaurant near the main bridge on the Ibar River.
They were accompanied by more than 20 police officers.
