Anniversary of the NATO train bombing in Grdelica Gorge

On this day 24 years ago, a passenger train was shelled in the Grdelica Gorge during NATO's aggression against Serbia. According to official data, at least 15 passengers died, including a six-year-old boy, RTS reports.

NATO bombers rocketed a passenger train, and 15 people died in the attack. Dozens were injured, and the exact number of victims has never been determined.

"You should not be afraid of people, but of the inhuman in them," is engraved on the monument near the railroad bridge over the South Morava in the Grdelica Gorge.

The second and third carriages of the passenger train on the Belgrade-Thessaloniki route were destroyed during the NATO attack in Grdelica.

On April 12, 1999, passenger train 393 was shot at by an airplane while crossing the bridge, and it is assumed that at least 15 civilians died in the attack.
